Executive Committee Update (6/19-7/10)
I hope everyone had a wonderful Independence Day holiday! Seeing pictures from all around Arizona, it appears the Republican Party of Arizona was well represented in every corner of our great state.
Our Party has been very busy over the last several weeks:
We welcomed Levi Somerville to the AZGOP team. He will be the State Digital Director and will work with Trump Victory, the RNC, and the AZGOP. If you have digital or data-related questions, let us know and we will connect you with Levi. He is available to help all of us understand the tools that are available to candidates and elected officials, answer questions and alleviate concern, provide universes for candidates, and help us learn how to use data more efficiently.
We met with Arthur Cooper and Alan Korwin regarding a program they offer candidates, elected officials, and anyone else who might have to deal with the media. If you or someone you know is interested in learning more, contact the office so we can connect you.
We have been working closely with members of our finance committee to increase large-dollar contributions to the AZGOP.
Our team and I have put a call in to several people who are considering running for office in Arizona. We have a lot of talent out there!
The AZGOP has been putting in significant work on the “125 Program.” Our Political Director, Mike Shaw, is taking the lead on this program. He is working closely with Maricopa Chairwoman Rae Chornenky and PC Coordinator Loraine Pellegrino to get the ball rolling. He has also introduced it in several other Counties as well. These 125 are the people each of us as PCs represent. We will make sure you have the training and resources to engage your PCs (and yourselves). Our voter contact app can also be used to manage your 125. Contact mike.shaw@azgop.org with questions.
Member-at-Large Ron Ludders has a lot to offer at the AZ Project. He is operating The Hub to educate PCs and the public about Republican issues. He also has capacity to do internet radio. If you are interested, contact the office and we will connect you.
Weekly calls with Maricopa Chairwoman Chornenky and the Trump Victory State leadership continue to be productive. We are working together closely to win Maricopa County, and Arizona as a whole, for President Trump and Republicans all the way down the ballot. You’ve probably seen information from all of us regarding our biggest priority right now – VOTER REGISTRATION. If you haven’t heard or are ready to get trained, email DSexton@gop.com for more info.
We hosted a small meeting of a few leaders in the Election Integrity world late last month. We discussed what can be done and how non-partisan groups may be able to help the AZGOP keep our elections safe. If anyone is interested in joining our Election Integrity committee, or the bigger Integrity team who will make up poll watchers, poll workers, marshals, or people assisting in get out the vote efforts, contact me directly at kelli.ward@azgop.org.
I spoke with RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel twice over the last few weeks. She wanted to let me know that the RNC is very happy with the work the AZGOP team is doing and they want us to keep it up! She wants everyone to know that the relationship between the RNC and the AZGOP is strong. I know there are rumors out there to the contrary; however, I want to assure you – as Chairwoman McDaniel assured me – ignore the gossip and get involved with winning big in 2020!
We had our conference call on June 24, in which we agreed that we can do business that does not require a formal vote via telephonic consensus.
The entire AZGOP staff participated in Trump Victory training led by Drew Sexton on June 25. We are ready and moving forward!
We had an amazing event with American artist Jon McNaughton on June 26. We learned a lot about his work, got to know him better, and raised money for the AZGOP. If you are interested in seeing some of his work, go to www.JonMcNaughton.com and follow him on Twitter @McNaughtonArt. Our live auction of some very special pieces will be up soon – we will let you know when it goes live. Thank you to Pot of Gold Auctions (Cheryl and Danny Todd) for helping us get this done!
Leslie, Zach, and I met with Vernon Robinson of Black Americans to Re-elect the President to discuss smart strategies to reach minority voters.
I attended the RNC member teleconference on June 27. Attendees heard from Brad Parscale, Nick Trainer, Bill Steppian, and Chris Carr. We are surpassing goals all over the USA. Everyone is looking forward to the RNC meeting in Charlotte, NC in August.
Levi has created a report of unregistered, likely Republican voters in every LD and County. These will be people to reach out to as we work to register more GOP voters and get them to the polls.
We welcomed Trump Victory Assistant State Director Taylor Haller to the AZGOP at the beginning of July. She is a hard worker, has great experience, and is an amazing asset to our team.
I look forward to our upcoming call on July 16! A reminder email will be sent out in the morning with dial-in details for our call. Keep up the great work, everyone!
Sincerely,

Dr. Kelli Ward
Chairman
Republican Party of Arizona
P.S. I wanted to let you all know that President Trump is keeping a close eye on Arizona. He gave me a call on July 1 – what a fabulous surprise and YUGE honor. I told him we are all working together, with unity, to win big in 2020!
