Major Gifts Officer

Job Description: The Republican Party of Arizona is looking for a dedicated and energetic Major Gifts Officer to implement and improve the Party’s comprehensive fundraising program. Under the supervision of the Executive Director and State Party Chairman, the Major Gifts Officer oversees the Party’s fundraising, donor prospecting, donor management, membership, event management and execution to ensure the Party’s priorities and plans are carried out. This position will require the individual to be a self-starter, capable of working independently in a fast-paced political environment. This is not an entry-level position.

Responsibilities Include:

Major Donor Program
  • Create a multi-faceted short and long term fundraising plan for the Party that encourages development of new revenue streams while maintaining current streams.
  • Manage database, conduct research on current and potential contributors, and prospect for new donors.
  • Raise funds through consistent personal call time.
  • Conduct accurate and timely donor follow up and acknowledgment.
  • Engage staff and State Committee by creating an organizational culture of fundraising.
  • Coordinate with the Communications Manager to raise online contributions through innovative direct email solicitations, popular social media posts, online ads and high quality contribution web pages.
  • Administer and grow the Reagan Circle program.
  • Manage follow up on all correspondence and pledges.
  • Supervise work of staff, interns, volunteers, and vendors.
Event Management
  • Plan, coordinate and executive events throughout the year such as quarterly Executive Committee Meetings, mandatory and statutory annual State Committee meetings, Chairman’s Dinner, and other events, as necessary.
  • Work with the Executive Director to develop and monitor event goals, requirements, and budget.
  • Identify and source potential sponsors and ensure sponsorship fulfillment.
  • Research potential event sites, to determine the location that best fits the needs of the event.
  • Identify and source potential event sponsors and ensure sponsorship fulfillment.
  • Identify and resource speakers and attendees.
  • Coordinate logistics including advance walk-throughs, decor, audio-visual, signage, entertainment, photography, and registration.
  • Develop briefing and materials for speakers and attendees prior to the event.
  • Assist in managing event vendors, AZGOP staff and volunteers to ensure deadlines are met and tasks are completed.
  • Work with the Communications Manager to promote the event.
  • Supervise work of staff, interns, volunteers, and vendors.
  • Conduct post evaluations and create documentation after each event.


  • Donor prospecting and research experience preferred.  Prior experience with targeting contributors and follow up management.
  • Event planning experience preferred, demonstrating increasing responsibility over time.
  • Experience with project coordination and management and ability to handle multiple projects at once.
  • Experience managing staff preferred.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Time management skills are a must.  Proven track record of setting priorities and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Ability to occasionally work long hours, occasional weekends, and travel when necessary.
  • Collaborative spirit and willingness to assist colleagues outside of one’s own job description.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with a strong attention to detail while remaining flexible to changing requirements.

Compensation: Commensurate with experience.
